The architectural characteristics of the gathering’s spatial context are particularly striking in the way the protesters were stationed by fences across the street from the high court, and police officers in riot gear, situated above, controlled the pedestrian bridge linking the building with Bobigny bus station. From their prominent position, they were able to attack the crowd with tear gas, a chemical weapon that is prohibited in international conflicts. This installation or report further attempts to illustrate how the space of the suburbs remains a space where French colonial structures continue to operate against young people of colour.
