Black Speaks Backcontributes to
Transnational dialogue: blackness, futurity and creativity within Europe
Emma-Lee Amponsah and Heleen Debeuckelaere founded Black Speaks Back in November 2016. The idea emerged partly from frustration with the present-day media landscape in Belgium and the Netherlands, but also from the need to have a more positive impact on African communities. The collective aims to achieve the latter by approaching race and racism from a more European context, rather than an American one.
The members of Black Speaks Back are Emma-Lee Amponsah, Heleen Debeuckelaere, Burezi Turikumwe and Christopher Daley.
